For those uninitiated, Ghilli is a remake of the Telugu blockbuster Okkadu , but it carves its own identity. The story follows Saravana Velu (Vijay), a state-level Kabaddi player who goes to Kurnool for a match. He inadvertently crosses paths with Muthupandi (Prakash Raj), a ruthless factionist leader who wants to marry the heroine, Dhanalakshmi (Trisha), against her will.
